OXVA Xlim SQ Review

October 14, 2022 Off By VapeGeezer

Vape Geezer picked up the latest product in the Xlim series this week. To find out what I think, continue reading the full OXVA Xlim SQ review below.

About the OXVA Xlim SQ

The OXVA Xlim SQ is described as “a compact pod vape kit that packs a punch”, this device is hailed by vapers for its ability to deliver “X-treme” flavour intensity.

What’s in the OXVA Xlim SQ box?

Inside the box you get:

  • The OXVA Xlim SQ device
  • Two 2ml cartridges: 1x 0.6 ohm (20 to 25 Watts) and 1x 0.8 ohm (12 to 16 Watts)
  • A metal lanyard chain
  • One USB C charging cable
  • A sticker sheet to customise your device.

Vape Geezer’s Thoughts

I’m actually impressed. Especially considering the fact that I wasn’t overly keen on picking this vape kit up in the first place. It was only when a friend of mine talked me around to trying it out that I gave in and bought one.

It wasn’t love at first sight though. The OXVA Xlim SQ is tiny. It makes my hands look huge, and trust me, they’re not.

The thing is though, once I picked it up, I couldn’t put it down. As someone who prefers a bigger mod and a higher wattage, I’m surprised by just how good the OXVA Xlim SQ actually is.

Look And Feel

Despite only costing £24.99, this vape kit gives off a real premium feel. The aluminium body, curves and bevelled corners look great, and the inclusion of a sturdy metal chain instead of a string lanyard is both useful and aesthetically pleasing.

From a design perspective, the OXVA Xlim SQ is aimed at vapers on the go. It’s lightweight and, thanks to the free lanyard, you have a choice on how to carry it. Having tried carrying this vape kit in my pocket and around my neck, I prefer the lanyard. It’s quick and easy for me to vape on the go without having to fumble around in my pocket or remember where I last put it down.

The OXVA Xlim SQ is available in eight colours. I’m not overly keen on most of them as they are quite garish dual tone designs. My personal favourite is solid black, but the arctic blue looks great too.

Usability

The OXVA Xlim SQ is a mouth to lung device with the cartridges sporting a thin mouthpiece. This replicates the feeling of smoking a regular cigarette quite well. I usually vape direct to lung and thought that switching to MTL would make the vaping experience less enjoyable, but the OXVA Xlim SQ delivers a considerable hit for its size, so this was never an issue.

The kit uses a buttonless inhalation feature which makes it convenient for on the go vaping. I haven’t used an auto inhale kit for quite a long time, but I think now that the technology has improved that this is the way to go. It’s quick and convenient, especially when you’re in the middle of doing something.

Changing The Coil

The tank and coil are combined into a single pod cartridge, which makes life easier when the coil eventually burns out. Rather than making a mess when you have to carefully remove a dead coil from a part full tank, you just fill up a new pod and away you go.

Airflow Control

The device offers the ability to control the airflow by using a slider on the side. This is a great feature as closing it up partially or completely can help to approximate the sensation of taking a drag on a real cigarette. Great if you intend on using the OXVA Xlim SQ to quit smoking.

OXVA Xlim SQ Battery

In terms of battery life, I managed to use this vape kit for around 24 hours before having to charge it back up. Considering that it only has a 900mAh battery, that’s pretty impressive and works out at around 8ml of e-liquid vaped in that time. Once the battery ran out, I just plugged it into my laptop and it was fully charged again just over an hour later.

Update 2023: After using the Xlim SQ for a while it became apparent to me that the power output starts to fade as the charge decreases. Although it’s not specified on the specifications I checked, I suspect the device uses an alkaline battery rather than lithium. This is a great shame, as I do still love the device, but I thought it only right to update my readers accordingly.

Flavour

I tested this device out with my own home made 70/30 e-liquid as well as DNA Vape’s 50/50 Blueberry Razz Lemonade e-liquid.

When using my own e-liquid it was ok, but took more effort to get a satisfying hit when compared to my VooPoo Drag.

On the other hand, it was absolutely phenomenal with the 50/50 DNA Vape e-liquid. The amount of flavour it delivered with each puff was intense and is the reason I haven’t been able to put it down.

Compared to my VooPoo device, the OXVA reigned supreme for flavour purity.

Final Verdict

This is a fantastic vape kit for the price. It’s convenient, looks great, feels solid in your hand and packs a punch where flavour is concerned.
